Association Group Insurance and Association Health Plans:
They Are Not the Same

There has been much debate recently over the issue of Association Health Plans (AHPs) - insurance sold through associations under federal oversight. This debate has also been the source of much confusion for media, for legislators and for consumers in that they mistake AHPs for association group insurance, and vice versa. There are similarities between the two, but there are also distinct differences.

CAHI has prepared this comparison to make clear the differences between these two association models.
