CAHI Releases 'Obama vs. McCain: Competing Health Care Visions

Alexandria, VA -- Since August 2007, the Council for Affordable Health Insurance (CAHI) has closely tracked and chronicled the health care reform proposals of every presidential candidate. But we only identified their proposals; we didn't expound on them.

Today, CAHI is releasing "Obama vs. McCain: Competing Health Care Visions," where we both identify what the two primary presidential candidates say they want to do and discuss whether their proposals will actually increase access to affordable coverage.

"It's not enough to know how the candidates want to reform the health care system," said CAHI Executive Director Dr. Merrill Matthews, "the public also needs to know whether those plans will work. Health care reform done incorrectly may claim to cover more people while actually impeding their access to doctors and medicine - and cost hundreds of billions of dollars more to boot. We need health care reform, but we need it done correctly . . . the first time."
