CAHI has several membership categories designed to encourage interaction and
cooperation between professionals in all areas of health care and
health care delivery.
Full Membership is exclusively for risk-bearing companies, such
as individual and small group health insurers and specialty carriers
(HSAs, defined contributions, long-term care, supplemental coverage).
These members receive the most comprehensive range of benefits and
services and play an active role in determining CAHI policy through
election to the Board of Directors. Dues for Full Members are based
on health insurance premiums reported for the preceding year.
Affiliate Members are non-risk bearing companies, non-profit
organizations and individuals such as agents, actuaries, physicians
and benefit consultants. These members play a major role in helping
to define policy objectives and association goals by lending their
expertise on various issues.
The CAHI Action Team is a new grassroots initiative developed
to provide timely, pertinent information to insurance professionals
and others who want to be prepared not only to refute the calls
for socialized medicine, but to educate elected officials, the media
and the public on how to ensure that all Americans have access to
affordable health insurance. Action Team members are brokers, agents,
benefits professionals, financial planners, physicians and health
care consumers.
