CAHI Releases "Trends in State Mandated Benefits, 2011"
(Alexandria, VA) - Today the Council for Affordable Health Insurance (CAHI) released its most recent Policy Trends paper, "Trends in State Mandated Benefits, 2011."
CAHI’s research and analysis uncovers developing trends long before they might become apparent to the casual observer. As a companion piece to our renowned study, "Health Insurance Mandates in the States, 2011," the “Trends, 2011” paper takes the 2,262 mandates CAHI identified this year and forecasts what’s ahead for legislators and policy makers. The result is an invaluable tool to help policy-makers understand the impact mandates have on the cost of health insurance.
Look to "Trends in State Mandated Benefits, 2011” for information on this year’s benefit groundswells, including expanded coverage for behavioral treatments for autism spectrum disorders, as well as oral chemotherapy regimens, the newest and most rapidly spreading mandate.
“Legislators can expect special interest and advocacy groups to focus on these newly-identified benefit trends through a coordinated multi-state strategy. It is vital legislators understand the cost effect on health insurance before voting on a new mandate,” explained CAHI Research and Policy Director, Victoria Craig Bunce, the study’s author.
