The mission of the Council for Affordable Health Insurance is to develop and promote free market solutions to America's health care challenges. CAHI has played a major role in Congress and state legislatures by educating lawmakers and regulators regarding the positive results or adverse consequences of reform measures.
One of the challenges that we as a nation must face is to develop a health care system that enables all citizens to have access to affordable and quality health care. After analyzing the weaknesses of our present health care delivery system, CAHI has proposed an eight-point plan as a viable solution. CAHI’s health reform plan maximizes the individual’s freedom of choice; preserves the quality of health care to which Americans have become accustomed; encourages individual responsibility; makes health insurance more affordable; and provides the individual the incentive to purchase health insurance.
How We Accomplish Our Goals
CAHI’s active board of directors leads the organization’s activities. CAHI’s board of directors is made up of senior executives with vast insurance and health care policy experience. The board members develop policy positions, review proposed legislation, and testify before Congress and state legislative committees.
Policy analysts and actuaries research the economic impact of legislation and produce in-depth reports in order to support CAHI’s communication efforts. CAHI has also developed an extensive network of grassroots organizations with whom it works to carry forward its message to the media and to lawmakers.
